This position has been created to elevate pharmacy education through scholarly mentor, academic scholarship and research. PERL is Canada’s very first drug store education research collaborative with the main goal of advancing the quality of drug store education through scholarly teaching and practice-driven, research-informed, and reflective approaches to constant quality improvement, locally, nationally and internationally. We seek a scholar who will lead and mentor in a collegial and collective environment that supports the development and development of emerging instructional scholars in addition to their jobs and research interests. Through mentorship from established scholars, PERL members develop, show and refine their mentor practices, research study abilities and contribute to brand-new academic research study initiatives.

The effective candidate needs to show evidence of exceptional research study and mentor excellence with a clear concentrate on instructional development and practice, consisting of but not restricted to the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), the scholarship of educational management (SoEL), improving approaches of mentor practice, understanding and improving student knowing and curriculum decision-making.

The effective prospect is anticipated to (a) develop on an existing program of initial, externally funded research (e.g., Tri-Agency, structure, and collaboration grants); (b) take part in undergraduate and graduate mentor in the Faculty; (c) add to the development of the Pharmacy Education Research and Leadership (PERL) style through guidance of graduate students, involvement in service activities within the Faculty, University and in the broader scholarly neighborhood; and (d) collaborate with scholars within the Faculty, across Faculties at UBC, and globally.

This is a tenured position in the Professoriate stream. The appointment (rank and tenure) goes through a favorable evaluation of the successful candidate’s record of accomplishments based upon UBC’s visit and period criteria as specified in the Collective Agreement, following the University’s established consultation procedures.
