NOW RECRUITING FOR CHILD AND YOUTH CARE WORKER(S):
CASUAL/RELIEF, PART-TIME AND PART-TIME LEADING TO FULL TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE
LOCATION: Corner Brook
Blue sky is looking for Child and Youth Care Workers who will ensure that the children and youth we serve receive safe, supportive, and nurturing care that fosters development and resiliency. Our Child and Youth Care Workers are influential role models, helping prepare children and youth for their future. Playing an integral role in fostering a compassionate environment for those experiencing challenges, they build relationships based on trust and open communication.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate and contribute to the plan of care for each child/youth.
Follow behavioral support and intervention guidelines, including crisis intervention and related documentation.
Communicate and engage with the children and youth in an appropriate manner
Communicate effectively with families, Social Workers, and co-workers in a professional manner and maintain appropriate personal presentation at all times
Assist in the day-to-day management of the home; including, household routines, chores, and meal preparation
Plan and supervise recreational and community activities
Maintain scheduling and transportation of medical, dental, and other necessary appointments for the children and youth
Report and document incidents using the appropriate forms and communication
Prepare daily shift reports with detailed documentation of child/youth activity and the care provided

Qualifications:
Completion or near completion (3 years minimum) of a university degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or Sociology, OR community college studies pertaining to family dynamics or social sciences, OR Child and Youth Care Worker Diploma
Crisis Prevention Intervention Training OR Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training
Current First Aid Certificate
Current Record of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check
Children, Seniors and Social Development (CSSD) Record Check
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination Status
Blue sky PROVIDES PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRAINING IN:
TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training)
Orientation and onboarding
Salary: $17.63-$19.83 per hour
