THE OPPORTUNITY
. The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for leading the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects to improve productivity, reduce waste and deliver cost savings. Implement lean continuous improvement manufacturing processes for new products and improve systems for existing customers. Work with all departments and Managers to define the scope of improvement opportunities. Also, this role contributes to a human work environment where fairness, equality and non-discriminatory practices are the standard.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Work with employees to identify and develop continuous improvement strategies that will drive operational excellence, increased capacity, and cost reductions.
- Conduct assessments of manufacturing operations to provide focused improvement opportunities to increase production efficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce inventory, reduce lead times, increase quality, and increase due date performance.
3. Develop benchmarks, measurements, quantifiable benefits, and track progress.
4. Share accountability for improvements in operational efficiencies.
5. Lead cross functional teams to implement continuous flow manufacturing and pull systems, 5S improvement, standard work, setup reduction, value stream mapping exercises, TPM implementation, visual standards.
6. Utilize value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste.
7. Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific process improvement goals and targets.
8. Responsible for the development and implementation of site-specific process improvement goals and targets.
9. Coordinates CI tools, techniques, and information; may respond to questions from operators, Team leaders, CI champions, managers, and customers.
10. Responsible in cost reduction proposals for yearly cost reduction targets.
11. Tracks and reports performance to plan on various CI projects.
- Perform work in accordance with IATF 16949 requirements and ISO14001 standards
- Performs other related duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
Minimum Qualifications:
· Engineering degree
· Lean Manufacturing /Six Sigma background (asset).
· 3-5 years’ experience in automotive /manufacturing engineering would be an asset.
· Good understanding to CI principles.
· Strong time management, multi-tasking, and all-round communication skills.
· A self-starter who is productive, takes initiative and seeks opportunities for improvement.
· An enthusiastic and energetic promoter of our lean philosophy.
· Knowledge of design, development, and manufacturing processes.
· Well-organized, attentive to details, works well with minimal supervision.
· Computer skills including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD.
Preferred Qualifications:
