
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess:
- an LLM with extensive professional experience; or
- PhD, which should be in Law or a closely related field.
Candidates should also possess:
- Ideally at least three (3) years tertiary level teaching experience in Law, with demonstrable experience teaching in a combination of at least three of the following areas:
- Criminal Law
- Family Law
- Trusts & Equity
- Jurisprudence
- International Taxation
- Legal Methods & Theories
- Property Law
- Sustainability
- Legal Systems
- A good record of research and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Teaching experience at the postgraduate level
- Experience in supervising research projects
- Proficiency in teaching with diverse instructional methods including face-to-face and blended learning
Teaching qualification would be considered an asset.
Special Responsibilities
- Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Assisting in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects/theses
- Developing a research agenda in Law and disseminating through top-ranked published papers and conference presentations
- Serving on Faculty and University committees
- Attending Faculty board meetings
- Assisting with the periodic review of the curriculum
- Advising undergraduate and graduate students
- Supporting the outreach activities of the Faculty
Personal Attributes

- Be familiar with tertiary level education in the Caribbean
- Display leadership capabilities
- Be committed to supporting outreach activities that promote the multifaceted and rich aspects of the programmes and activities within the Faculty of Law
- Be self-motivated and capable of motivating students
- Be willing to apply diverse teaching methods
