Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess a MSc or equivalent or higher postgraduate qualification from a recognized university, which should be in Oral Biology, Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine or a closely related field.
Candidates should also possess:
- A good record of research and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals
- Considerable teaching experience in the field of Oral Biology at an undergraduate level with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Oral Anatomy and Histology
- Craniofacial and Dental Development
- Oral Physiology & Biochemistry
- Oral Microbiology
- Cariology
- Tooth Surface Loss
The following would be considered assets:
- Certificate in university teaching and learning or equivalent
- Experience in the supervision or mentoring of research students
- Clinical experience in Dentistry
- Experience in the supervision of undergraduate students in a clinical setting
Candidates must be registered or be able to be registered with the Dental Council of Trinidad and Tobago.
Special Responsibilities
- Working closely with staff in the Faculty of Medical Sciences to provide quality leadership in teaching and curriculum development
- Teaching undergraduate students and vocational trainees
- Undertaking clinical supervision
- Participating in clinically oriented problem-based learning activities
- Supporting University assessment and examination activities
- Conducting impactful research and publications
- Participating in teaching and supervision of vocational trainees when required
- Participating in administrative duties as required
Personal Attributes
