LECTURER IN REMOTE SENSING
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess a PhD from a recognized university, which should be in Remote Sensing, Earth Observations, Photogrammetry, Geomatics Engineering or a closely related field.
Candidates should also possess:
- At least three (3) years’ experience in research and teaching as a distinguished academic, with experience in geospatial data extraction from geo-images in a geomatics engineering context
- A track record of innovative and cohesive research and development
- Good record of geomatics-related research and publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in Applied Geographic Information Systems and Virtual Reality research and applications
- At least two (2) years administrative experience (coordinating courses and functioning as an examiner)
- Strong ability to supervise Ph.D. and M.Sc. Geoinformatics research, and BSc. Geomatics student projects
- Strong ability to integrate theory and practice
- Proficiency in at least two (2) of the following areas:
- Photogrammetry
- Remote Sensing
- Earth Observations
- Geomatics Engineering
- Virtual Reality
- Ability to provide teaching and research support in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Membership of a geomatics-related, internationally recognized professional body
- Experience in the successful supervision of research students
- A record of significant attraction of research funding
- A proven track record of leadership and vision in developing teaching and research in Geomatics with Caribbean and/or international impact
- Evidence of prior success in securing external funding for research projects
A Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics or a closely related field would be considered an asset.

- Be able to support other programmes in the Department
- Be able to work with government and industrial partners on applied research and development projects
