Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess a DM or equivalent or PhD, which should be in Medical Microbiology.
Candidates should also possess:
- Substantial record of research and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals
- Considerable teaching experience, preferably in the area of Clinical/Medical Microbiology
- Strong interest, teaching and experience in practice of Clinical/Medical Microbiology e.g. Virology, Mycology, Parasitology, Bacteriology
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Other specialist training e.g. FRCPath, ABBM, ACCM
- Practical experience in strategic curriculum development of postgraduate programs and training for future microbiologists
- Teaching and research experience/research advisorship
The following would be considered assets:
- Medical qualification e.g. MBBS, MBCHB
- Familiarity with Problem-Based Learning system
- Experience in blended teaching and learning
Medically qualified applicants: to be able to operate as a Consultant in Microbiology in a hospital setting, it is necessary to be registered or be able to register with the Medical Board of Trinidad & Tobago (MBTT). Offering diagnostic and clinical consultations in Medical Microbiology to clinicians in the ward and other health workers at any of the Government Health Institutions in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago would be required.
