Yellowstone Adventure Camp (YAC) is a day camp for elementary-aged kids that runs from early June to mid-August. This year, we are looking for a teacher to help lead activities and hikes, develop fun lessons and help our local kids learn about the world around them!
Every day is an adventure with this job! Our YAC Coordinator would need to be able to plan and lead activities, from hiking and outdoor games to Yellowstone-based curriculum and even citizen science projects. More details are below.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and implement an age-appropriate, outdoor-based Yellowstone curriculum throughout the summer
Lead day-hikes and other outdoor activities in the Mammoth Hot Springs area
Effectively supervise and interact with children throughout the day to ensure safety and security and provide for a clean, comfortable, happy and healthy learning environment
Have and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all Center policies and procedures, including risk management policies
Work effectively with other staff in a team setting
Attend to cleaning duties and other operating procedures as assigned
Communicate with parents about children’s daily and long-term needs
Undertake specific training as required, including a current CPR and First Aid certification
Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure safety of the group
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to pass a TB risk assessment, a background check and central registry checks
Previous experience working in outdoor-based educational programs or with elementary-aged kids.
At least 18 years old and able to lift up to 40 pounds
